At the 6th Abu Dhabi Security Debate, organised by the Emirates Policy Center, Derasat Chairman pointed out the precarious regional situation noting that the region has, over the past decade, experienced significant geopolitical and security challenges leading to the collapse of many national institutions and sectarian and ethnic conflicts. He added the emergence of so called “asymmetric wars”, alongside the dangers of cyber terrorism, have also posed an impediment to sustainable development. “Concerted efforts are the only way to address challenges facing us,” he said, affirming the importance of GCC unity in confronting the challenges.
