In 2008, Bahrain launched its 2030 Economic Vision aiming to diversify the economy that relied almost exclusively on oil. Empowering the private sector was among the strategies, by increasing the contribution of entrepreneurship to the economy. A challenge that decision-makers face in Bahrain is the lack of data measuring individual and collective capabilities in organizing projects and calculating pioneering characteristics and individual leadership.
Based on this, an entrepreneurship survey was conducted in collaboration with MindCette LLC from the US and “Tamkeen”, in order to measure and evaluate the leadership traits for Bahraini citizens. The project aimed to provide scientifically accurate data about project-organizing traits and measuring the related individual ability, and identifying inadequacies in the area of entrepreneurship. In a way that enabled decision-makers to direct resources required by the individual, such as guidance, building capacities and financial support. By doing so, a main goal of the Economic Vision would have been fulfilled; improving Bahraini citizens’ entrepreneurial capabilities, spreading the necessary culture and mindset in place of over-dependence on the government.
