Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat) received Mr. Katadah Abdul Hameed Zaman, the Center’s former Executive Director, and Dr. Hamad Ebrahim Abdulla, the newly appointed Executive Director of (Derasat).
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla praised Mr. Zaman’s achievements during his tenure, and the milestones he left in Derasat’s path, with notable publications and quality events, wishing him continuous prosperity in his upcoming responsibilities.
Derasat’s Chairman of Trustees also congratulated Dr. Hamad Ebrahim Abdulla on his new appointment as the Center’s Executive Director, offering his full support to continue reinforcing Derasat’s advanced position and merit-based role locally and globally. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla praised Derasat’s new Executive Director’s professional and personal qualities, and his promising competence in further developing a creative and innovative work environment, based on international criteria in measuring performance, proficiency, and quality levels, to fulfill the Center’s mission, in line with the comprehensive reforms approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, and the principles of Bahrain’s 2030 Economic Vision, in compliance with the current developments and changes.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla commended Dr. Hamad’s excellent resume, backed by his informed vision and broad experiences, in his interaction with various organizations, in addition to handling organizational matters, and answering to the Board of Trustees regarding business continuity in its technical, managerial, and financial aspects.
Mr. Katadah Zaman expressed his profound gratitude for the continuous support provided by the Chairman of Trustees during his tenure with Derasat; a factor that helped him meet his obligations in one of the region’s most prominent research centers.
Dr. Hamad Abdulla expressed his gratitude to the Board of Trustees for entrusting him with this responsibility, supporting him in joining the Center’s team, and enabling him to contribute to this pioneering research institute and international center of excellence; promising to spare no effort to fulfill the drawn objectives.
Notably, Derasat’s new Executive Director – Dr. Hamad Ebrahim Abdulla – holds a PhD in History from the UK’s University of East Anglia since 2016, and was until recently a Professor of Modern and Contemporary History in Department of Social Sciences at the College of Arts, University of Bahrain. He has notable academic contributions and publications, and is a capable national researcher in his field.
