As part of the constructive and fruitful coordination between the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies “Derasat” and the University of Bahrain, a memorandum of cooperation was signed today at the University’s premises between the two sides. The Memorandum calls for enhancing mutual cooperation in the fields of knowledge sharing, conducting qualitative research and studies and supporting and encouraging training of national employees, as well as the participation in related conferences, seminars, workshops and similar events.

 

The memorandum was signed on behalf of “Derasat” by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and by Dr. Riyad Yousef Hamza for the University of Bahrain.

 

Dr. Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa welcomed the cooperation with the University of Bahrain, describing the university as one of the pillars of science and knowledge in the Kingdom. He pointed out that there are many goals that the Derasat Center has in common with this leading national institution.

 

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Derasat said that there already exists an ongoing cooperation with the University of Bahrain, but this memorandum seeks to further enhance our close partnership by strengthening the relations between the two institutions in various areas of scientific research in line with the strategic directions, missions and goals of the two institutions.

 

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa added that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, attaches great importance to scientific research as a pillar of development and a foundation for future growth. The top priorities of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 includes investing in the highest quality of human resources, creating an environment that encourages growth and innovation and capitalizing upon the comparative strengths of the Kingdom, all based on the principles of sustainability, competitiveness and fairness.

 

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Derasat stressed the importance of opening up new and promising areas of cooperation between institutions to promote the exchange of knowledge and research, noting that the Kingdom of Bahrain is a leader in the fields of education and training and that it continues its unwavering efforts to improve education and research.

 

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa stressed the importance of increased cooperation between national research institutions to serve sustainable development. He pointed out that the Derasat Center seeks to have more joint initiatives for capacity building, conducting research and studies, providing quality consultations and carrying out opinion surveys to achieve our goals, and enhance the Center’s role and contribution to the community partnership.

 

For his part, President of the University of Bahrain Dr. Riyad Hamza said that he was pleased with the University’s cooperation with the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies, describing the Center as one of the leading research centers in the Middle East. He added that it was quite important to benefit from each other’s work.

 

The President of the University of Bahrain said that the two sides will seek to benefit from the Memorandum of Cooperation in the capacity building of their staff and employees through conducting joint scientific research that will help go towards fulfilling the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.

 

Dr. Riyad Hamza said that the University of Bahrain is keen to make the latest research results and techniques available to its graduates, and always seeks to diversify and enhance its cooperation with renowned institutions in support of its scientific and academic programs.
