Experts from regional research centers and the United Nations Development Programme in the Kingdom of Bahrain have joined the growing list of participants to the 3rd Annual Derasat Forum, organized by the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat); titled, “The Role of Think Tanks in Supporting National Efforts: Combatting the Repercussions of the COVID-19 Pandemic”. The Forum – organized by videoconference from 24 to 26 November 2020.

The repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic pose a monumental challenge to recovery throughout the world and think tanks have joined national efforts to tackle identifying the best solutions and policies to mitigate negative impacts. Strategies to cope with the post-pandemic era require dialogue at all levels, one that brings together academic and national organizations to share visions and derive best practice and lessons learned.

Derasat Center is pleased to announce the participation of a number of organizations and institutions like the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, the University of Bahrain, the Arabian Gulf University, the United Nations Development Programme, the King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies, the King Abdulla Petroleum Studies and Research Center, the Gulf Research Center, the Emirates Policy Center, the Asbar Center for Studies, Research and Information, the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, the Center for Strategic Studies in Jordan, the Moroccan Center for Strategic Studies and the Tunisian Institute for Strategic Studies.

The 3-day forum revolves around the role of think-tanks and research institutions in dealing with the pandemic and post-pandemic challenges. Experts will discuss various research approaches to combatting repercussions on society; resources required to face the challenges of the crisis; coordination mechanisms between think-tanks and national organizations; as well as demonstrating a national case study titled, “The Outcomes of Cooperation between ‘Derasat’ and the UNDP.”
