The volume of international trade is one of the most important manifestations of modern civilization reaching approximately US$20 trillion in 2019, and plays a key role in promoting people’s standard of living.  When it comes to food security, however, it is a double-edged sword so and continued research and scientific forums are essential to address the issues. The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International & Energy Studies (Derasat) has dedicated its annual forum this year to the issue of food security titled, “Strategies to Attain Food Security: Challenges and Opportunities”, from the 21st – 23rd June, 2021. The forum aims to discuss ways to achieve food security in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as review the experiences of the Gulf Arab states and the Middle East region.
