The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), hosted a lecture as part of its Think Talk series, featuring Dr. Betul Dogan-Akkas, Assistant Professor of International Relations at the University of Ankara in Turkey. The event took place on Tuesday, 5 November 2024, at the Center’s headquarters in Awali and attracted a diverse audience, including representatives from Derasat’s partners and individuals interested in the topic.

In her presentation, Dr. Dogan-Akkas provided an in-depth analysis of the strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Turkey, tracing the historical roots of their relations and examining key areas of collaboration. She highlighted the significance of economic ties, pointing out how trade and investment initiatives have strengthened bilateral ties. Additionally, Dr. Dogan-Akkas discussed the security cooperation between the two nations, emphasizing joint efforts to address regional challenges and promote stability.

Cultural exchanges were also a focal point of her lecture, as she illustrated how shared values and historical connections contribute to a deeper understanding between the peoples of Bahrain and Turkey. The lecture was moderated by Dr. Abdulla Isa Al-Abbasi, Director of the Energy and Environment Studies Programme at Derasat’s Research and Studies Directorate.
