His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat), praised the historic and distinguished Bahraini-Omani relations, which continue to witness progress and growth as a model of close, renewed fraternal and strategic partnership under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman—may God protect them both.

On the occasion of the release of the book “The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain: A Shared History and a Promising Future”, His Excellency the Minister and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Derasat expressed pride in publishing this book in conjunction with the State Visit of His Majesty the King to the brotherly Sultanate of Oman. The book also reflects fruitful scientific collaboration with the Omani Studies Center at Sultan Qaboos University, as part of an agreement signed between the two sides to cooperate and exchange expertise in the fields of studies, research, and academia.

His Excellency added that the book aims to document the journey of fraternal relations between Bahrain and Oman, which are deeply rooted in history and founded on mutual respect, affection, and solidarity. The relations have always stood out as a model of constructive cooperation and growing strategic partnership. Both countries share a commitment to supporting and developing the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as a unifying fraternal entity, embodying shared cultural identity, historical bonds, and a common destiny. These efforts further enhance Arab unity, Islamic solidarity, and human fraternity amid accelerating regional and global changes.

His Excellency highlighted the book’s richness and diversity, covering nine chapters that detail the development of relations between the two brotherly countries from ancient times to the present. It explores shared architectural styles of heritage landmarks, cooperation during modern and contemporary eras, and the key dimensions of fraternal integration. The book also sheds light on significant developments in Bahraini-Omani relations across various fields, including politics, security, culture, society, education, and economic collaboration in sectors such as energy and tourism, among others.

Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa extended his gratitude and appreciation to all researchers from both countries who contributed to the book, commending their efforts in documenting the historical development and fraternal ties between Bahrain and Oman. He also valued their focus on capturing the shared social customs and human values that foster tolerance, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence. The book underscores the two nations’ dedication to promoting Gulf integration, Arab unity, and Islamic solidarity.
