The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat) hosted, as part of its “Think Talk” series, a lecture titled “Empowering Transformation: The Role of Open Science in the Digital Age”. The event, held at Derasat’s headquarters in Awali on Wednesday, 15 January 2025, featured Dr. Omar Ahmad Al-Ubaydli, Derasat’s Director of the Studies and Research Directorate.

During her presentation, Dr. Al-Ubaydli highlighted the transformative power of open science in fostering collaboration and innovation. He stated: “Open science is not just a trend; it is a fundamental shift in how we approach knowledge sharing. In the digital age, it empowers researchers and communities to work together for a better future”.

Dr. Al-Ubaydli also acknowledged the significant strides the Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved in digital transformation, which has enabled it to adopt and utilize open science effectively. He remarked: “Bahrain’s commitment to developing a digital ecosystem has positioned it as a leader in the region. The government’s investment in technology and infrastructure, alongside initiatives to promote open data, has created a conducive environment for researchers and innovators to thrive. This progress not only enhances accessibility to information but also fosters a culture of collaboration that is essential for sustainable development”.
