Throughout 2024, Derasat Center continued its scientific, research, and intellectual programs and projects within the context of constructive local and international partnerships. These efforts solidified its position as a leading regional research institution and an active partner for various national organizations. Derasat provided in-depth studies, research, intellectual dialogues, and pioneering development projects in collaboration with UN organizations, think tanks, and academic, knowledge, and diplomatic institutions across the Arab world and beyond.
During the year, the center signed cooperation agreements with local and international institutions, including the Arabian Gulf University, the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, and the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation. These agreements fostered knowledge exchange and collaboration in research, training, and development. The partnerships contributed to enhancing Derasat’s scientific contributions and strategic programs to support decision-makers through comprehensive studies and analyses in political, security, social, economic, and energy fields, addressing regional and global challenges.
One of Derasat’s key initiatives was the signing of an agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to prepare the “2026 National Human Development Report” on the theme of “Digital Transformation.” This initiative aims to highlight Bahrain’s achievements in e-services, leverage digital technologies to improve public services, promote economic diversification, and empower citizens in the digital age.
In line with environmental protection and sustainable development, Derasat launched the “Green Worship Program” in collaboration with the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence. The program encourages places of worship in Bahrain to install solar panels, adopt alternative energy solutions, and raise awareness of renewable energy investments aligned with national energy strategies.
Derasat also strengthened strategic partnerships with academic institutions and prominent research centers in various countries. It contributed to establishing the Arab-Chinese Think Tank Network in Shanghai and hosted specialized lectures with officials and experts from the People’s Republic of China on bilateral relations and international issues. The center also maintained collaborations and exchanges with research and academic institutions in Japan and other nations.
In 2024, Derasat organized over 24 intellectual dialogues, providing a platform for intellectuals and experts to discuss issues such as military technology, digital transformation, trade conflicts, health, foreign policy, and strategic planning, attracting over 2,500 participants.
The center published two new editions of its journal, focusing on “Maritime Security” and “Dynamics of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).” These publications underscored Derasat’s commitment to regional security integration in addressing challenges.
Throughout the year, Derasat researchers participated in a wide range of local and international events, including conferences and workshops. They engaged with global experts on pressing issues, published articles in local and international media, and solidified Derasat’s reputation as a leading think tank regionally and internationally.
As 2024 concluded, Derasat looks forward to continuing its commitment to research excellence, expanding local and international partnerships, and launching innovative initiatives in strategic, economic, energy, environmental, and digital transformation domains. The center remains aligned with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
