The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) has recently participated in the second edition of the Global South Think Tank Dialogue, held in Nanjing, People’s Republic of China. The event gathered experts, scholars and researchers from around the world to discuss critical issues related to mutual learning among civilizations and the promotion of common progress. In attendance was H.E. Mr. Chen Zhou, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of Chinaâs Central Committee.
During the dialogue, a key panel titled âDeepening Mutual Learning among Civilizations for Common Progressâ featured insights from representatives of various international think tanks including Derasatâs Executive Director, Dr. Hamad Ebrahim Al-Abdulla. In his remarks, Dr. Al-Abdulla emphasized the importance of understanding and respecting the unique qualities of each civilization while fostering dialogue and integration. He noted that the interconnectedness of todayâs world necessitates cooperation among nations, highlighting that no country can thrive in isolation.
Dr. Al-Abdulla pointed out that the primary objective should be to build bridges of strategic thought that facilitate human prosperity and progress. He emphasized the need for a collective response to shared challenges, such as health related challenges and food security, which were highlighted by recent global events.
This participation is part of an ongoing collaboration between Derasat and various Chinese think tanks, aimed at enhancing strategic dialogue and mutual understanding. By engaging with international partners, Derasat seeks to contribute to the development of innovative solutions that address pressing global issues.
