Research Associate at Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat). She holds bachelors from the American University in Cairo in Middle East studies and political science and a minor in History and master’s degree in political science with a concentration in international relations from the American University in Cairo in 2021. Mona’s thesis focuses on civil wars that involve seceding parties examining the peace process of three case studies and the importance of referendums to a long-lasting peace in these kinds of conflicts. Mona has previously worked as a research analyst for a special project in Médecins du Monde in Egypt and then interned at the registration unit of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Egypt.
